Your chasen holder kusenaoshi

Kusenaoshi and the bamboo whisk, chasen, are traditionally inseparable partners. Each of them is an important object in Japanese tea culture, where the kusenaoshi serves as a special stand for the used chasen.

After each whisking of matcha tea with the delicate yet sturdy bristles of the bamboo whisk, it is essential to care for it properly to preserve the tool's form and functionality. Therefore, immediately after rinsing the chasen from matcha residue, it is placed on the kusenaoshi.

At first glance, the process may seem insignificant and avoidable. However, it's not without reason that the kusenaoshi has been traditionally used for centuries during every Japanese tea ceremony. Thanks to the stand, the whisk quickly dries from moisture, retains its unique shape, and lasts much longer.
