Your touch-of-god matcha

When God decided to bestow His gift upon the world, He looked upon Uji — a small town in the Kyoto Prefecture. The green terrains of the town were ideal for growing the green tea bushes Yabukita, Okumidori, and Saemidori.

When the leaves of the bushes finally stretched out and turned green, it was time for the farmers to gather them. And meanwhile, God whispered to them the recipe for the 'gift of the gods' — Tenju.

Try preparing koicha from it. It will be a true divine kiss: tender yet rich and strong at the same time. With flavours of pumpkin seeds, green apples, bananas, guavas, and pineapples intertwining into an unforgettable symphony.

Preparing Thick Koicha Tea
  • Preheat your bowl with hot water.
  • Dry it thoroughly.
  • Sift 3-4 grams of matcha (4 chashaku scoops) through a sieve into the bowl.
  • Pour in 80°C water (30-40ml).
  • Stir the tea slowly and thoroughly until it reaches a uniform consistency. It doesn't need to be whisked like usucha.
  • Relax and enjoy each sip. 🙂
